Foxx argued that heavy redactions by Harvard made several documents “useless,” while many others were duplicates of documents previously submitted. CNN —Harvard University turned over another trove of documents about campus antisemitism to Congress on Monday evening in response to an unprecedented subpoena from the House Education and Workforce Committee. Harvard was facing a 5 pm ET Monday deadline to respond to the subpoena, the first issued since the House Education Committee was founded in March 1867. “Harvard has produced documents in response to the Committee’s subpoena,” Nick Barley, a spokesperson for the House Education Committee, told CNN on Monday evening. “The Committee is currently reviewing those documents.”If Harvard had not responded, the committee would have had to consider further steps to enforce its subpoena. “Harvard denounced antisemitism on our campus and have made clear that the University will continue to take actions to combat antisemitism in any form,” Newton said.

New York CNN —A congressional committee investigating campus antisemitism took the unprecedented step of issuing multiple subpoenas to Harvard University on Friday, compelling the Ivy League school to turn over documents lawmakers are seeking. Three different Harvard officials are being subpoenaed: Alan Garber, Harvard’s interim president; Penny Pritzker, the billionaire leader of the Harvard Corporation, the governing board of the school; and N.P. The subpoenas order the Harvard officials to produce a series of documents by 5 pm ET on March 4. BOSTON (AP) — Harvard University has shed fresh light on the ongoing investigation into plagiarism accusations against former president Claudine Gay, including that an independent body recommended a broader review after substantiating some of the complaints. In a letter Friday to a congressional committee, Harvard said it learned of the plagiarism allegations against its first Black female president on Oct. 24 from a New York Post reporter. The school reached out to several authors whom Gay is accused of plagiarizing and none objected to her language, it said. Harvard then appointed the independent body, which focused on two of Gay's articles published in 2012 and 2017. History has been made at Harvard University, as Claudine Gay becomes the first person of color — and second woman — to be named president of the school. The university reports that for the last 16 years, Gay, 52, has taught government and African and African American Studies. in economics from Stanford University with honors and distinctions before earning her PhD at Harvard in 1998. Her appointment further upholds the university's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). According to the Harvard University website, 15.2% of the admitted class of 2026 identify as African American — an increase from just 12.7% in 2020 — 27.9% identify as Asian American and 12.6% identify as Hispanic or Latino.
